Alvin B. Pyle

Alvin Boyd Pyle, Sr., 83, of Somerset, passed away peacefully , in his sleep, at his home, on December 20, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Pyle Sr., mother, Erma (Brant)  and step-mother, Florence Pyle. Brothers,  Harvey Jr., Harold, Cloyd and Eugene and granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Trent. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Grace (Arnold) Pyle, Children, Theresa Speelman (Dwayne, Sr.), Alvin Pyle Jr. (Lori) both of Somerset, Bonnie Speelman (John Wanko) of Richland, Linda Trent (William) and Brian Pyle Sr. both of Somerset.  Grandchildren, Rebecca Felker, Susan Simmons, Dwayne Speelman Jr., Elizabeth Pyle, Melissa Sloskey, Kayla Dean, Jenavieve Fuoco, Mariah Fabian, Jonathan Fabian, Josh Speelman, Sr., Amanda Benes, Bradley Trent, Tiffany Jimmo and Brian Pyle, Jr.  Great Grandchildren, Brianna Simmons, Brian Simmons, Jr., Jeremiah Speelman, Grace Felker, Alexa Speelman, Austin Speelman, Jonathon Dean, Abigail Sloskey, Joshua Speelman , Jr., Jacob Trent, Riley Trent, Jaxon Boyd Trent, Brantley Trent, Carter Trent, Taelyn Jimmo, Layken Jimmo, Shane Jimmo, Jr. and Calvin Pyle, due in January. Brother of Calvin Pyle of Berea, OH and Lawrence Pyle of Somerset. Also numerous nieces and nephews.  Alvin served in the United States Army as a Specialist/Tank Commander during the Korean Conflict and the Cuban Crisis.  He attended Milford United Methodist Church, Somerset, PA. He retired from Briggs Industry after 32 years. Alvin was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed watching wildlife, westerns and polkas on T.V. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He had a huge heart and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 Friday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 pm Saturday with Reverend Doug Burns officiating. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery with military honors. Contributions may be made to Milford United Methodist Church, 368 Bando Rd., Somerset, PA 15501.
