Carl E. Fritz, 93, of Somerset, died February 3, 3018 at Siemon’s Lakeview Manor. Born March 15, 1924 in Lincoln Twp., he is the son of Edward W. and Eva (Tipton) Fritz. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Fritz; sisters: Alice Layton Thomas, Hazel Weeks, Jean Shaffer and infant siblings, Earl and Twila Fritz. Survived by wife: Thelma (Walker) Fritz, children: Carl Thomas (Debbie) Fritz, Lawrenceville, GA, and Susan (George) Illar, Somerset. Grandchildren: Clinton and Heidi Illar, Somerset and Mark (Katie) Fritz, Buford, GA and Michael (Renee) Fritz, Grovetown, GA. Great grandchildren: Allie, Walker, Noah, Bowen, Evie, Riggins and Henry Fritz. A member of the Somerset High School Class of 1942. Served in the Army during WW II in European Theater of Operations (ETO).Worked in the textile industry as a cutting room foreman in York, Meyersdale and Murfreesboro, TN., Nanty Glow, Jerome and Somerset, retiring from Somerset Mfg. Co. in 1989. Following retirement he delivered Meals –On-Wheels and Somerset Area Agency on Aging until January 2010. An active member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church. Carl was very passionate about his family and loved them very much. In addition he took pride in mowing his very large lawn with his John Deere garden tractor even through this past summer while being severely disabled. He will be sorely missed. Friends received in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday and at the Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church at 10 :00 am Wednesday where services will immediately follow at 11 am with Reverend Will Foster officiating. Interment in Casebeer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carl’s memory to Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10377 Somerset Pike, Somerset, PA 15501 would be appreciated.
