Joan E. Costea

Joan E. Costea 83, of Somerset, died April 18, 2019 at In Touch Hospice House. Born May 12, 1935, in Johnstown, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Beam) Bentz.  Also preceded  in death by her husband, Frederick J. Costea and brother Robert Bentz.  Survived by children: Doreen Costea of Cairnbrook, Michael Costea and wife Karen of Friedens and Mary Gerhard and husband Steve of Rockwood. Grandchildren: Sarah Rouch and husband Matt, Matthew Costea, Noah and Kaleb Gerhard. Great grandchildren: Eli and Jeremiah. Sister of: Jerry Bentz, Terry Bentz, James Bentz and Thomas Bentz. Joan was a member of the First Christian Church of Somerset where she served as a deaconess, church secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years.  She was an employee  of Newberry’s and I U 8 and was secretary for Helping Hands and a graduate of Somerset High School. Friends will be received from 3 to 4:30 pm Saturday April 27, 2019, in the First Christian Church, where a celebration of Joan’s life will immediately follow with Revered Chase Hill officiating. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery will be private.  Contributions may be made to the First Christian Church for the youth activity fund, 139 E.
