Leon F. Carey

Leon F. Carey Jr. 88 of Milford Twp., died December 12, 2017  at his residence. Born June 30, 1929, in Somerset, he is the son of the late Leon F. and Mary (Tayman) Carey Sr.  Also  preceded in death by his wife, Grace Jacobs Carey, daughter, Charlotte L. Fischer and a sister Mary Ann. Survived by his sons: Michael R. Carey of Lancaster and David A. Carey of Brooklyn Park, MD.  Grandchildren: Jeremy Fischer and Sarah Zaler and husband Michael.   Leon was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Son’s of the American Revolution, Meyersdale Elks Club, Wheeler and Dealer Square Dance Club where he was the treasurer and the Somerset General Authority. He volunteered at the Mary S. Beisecker  and the Meyersdale Library and was involved with the AARP Tax Aid program.  He previously worked for JC Penney and the Crane Company. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 Friday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 1:45 Friday.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Father Daniel O’Neill celebrant.  Committal in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Milford Twp.
