Roy Hemminger, 90, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2019. He was surrounded by family as he continued his journey into quiet peacefulness. He and his family were fortunate that he was able to complete his journey at In Touch Hospice House. Born July 1, 1928, in Somerset, he is the son of the late Jacob Earl and Alma Pearl (Good) Hemminger. Also preceded in death by a brother Eugene and a sister Alice Kimmel. Survived by his wife of 58 years the former Mary Ellen Hittie, daughters, Melanie Barkley of Manns Choice, Louise Crawford and husband Gary of Friedens and son Keith Hemminger and wife Jessica (Wickham) of Berlin. Grandchildren: Jessica (Crawford) and husband Cody Hemminger, Meghan Barkley, Levi Crawford, Kayla Barkley, Heidi Barkley, Brock Crawford and Zachary Hemminger. Brother of James and Clarence and many nieces and nephews. Roy a was a longtime member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge #554, Meyersdale, Elks, VFW, American Legion and several Rod and Gun Clubs. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, past president of PATSA, involved and long time supporter of the Boy Scouts, and enjoyed hunting. After the war he was a heavy equipment operator and in the 1960’s started Hemminger Auto and Truck Parts, which he ran with the help of his brother Jim. Roy loved to talk, even to people in the grocery store that he never met. He always had a good joke to make you laugh. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 am Monday with Reverend Will Foster officiating. Interment in Casebeer Cemetery.
