Arlene P. Walters, 95, of Somerset passed into heaven January 31, 2026 while at The Patriot. Born August 15, 1930 in Somerset, the daughter of Charles and Melda (Rose) Petrea. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Jack L Walters, a sister Audrey (Leonard) Sechler, and Son-in-Law, Robert E. Sarver, Jr. Arlene is survived by her daughter LuAnn W. Sarver of Friedens, Granddaughter Jessica M (Sarver) Freedman and husband Abe of South Fayette; Great-Granddaughters Kailee Grace and Kinsley Alyse Freedman. Arlene was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School. After graduation Arlene worked as a Bookkeeper for the George W Schenck Company until her marriage to Jack in 1958. She then began her career of becoming the best full-time homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother/great grandmother to her family. Arlene’s green thumb produced many beautiful flower gardens as well as flourishing indoor plants. She was a member of the Somerset Garden Club. She enjoyed landscaping each spring at Grace United Methodist Church where she was a devoted, lifelong member and volunteer. She loved to knit, play the organ, complete daily crossword puzzles (to keep sharp!) and enjoyed Bridge Club with longtime friends & neighbors. The family would like to thank the staff at The Patriot for their care and also Via Quest Hospice. A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at www.halversonfuneralhome.com.
