Betty Lavan died October 28, 2023 at Meadowview Nursing Center under the care of Via Quest Hospice and her dedicated Meadowview caregivers at the age of 92 ½. She is survived by her daughter Patty, grandson Brad, great grandchildren Lilly, Camdyn and Sophie. Betty was married to Harry Lavan who passed in 1985. She is also preceded In death by an infant son who she never saw or held or was given the opportunity to bury in the family plot. She was one of eleven children and survived by brother Cliff Trent and wife Sandy and sister Maryetta Williamson and many nieces and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by brothers Ralph, Lewis, Fred, Donald and John Trent and sisters Ruth Trent, Marie Yinkey and Sarah Lavan, Betty worked in many homes prior to marriage as a maid but most notable was working at the summit Dinner over 25 years. Betty worked the family farm “Lavan Brothers” with her husband and canned over 4000 jars of produce yearly. Betty and Harry loved to go dancing with friends which were many on Saturday nights at Circle 219 or the Eagles. She adored her family and loved to laugh. Betty was a member of the Pike Run Church and the FOE Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the now defunct Bakersville Ladies Auxiliary. Betty was also Mrs. Santa giving out shoe covers at the Somerset Welfare League home tour events. She loved people. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced when a date and time is set. Arrangements under the direction of the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home.
