Clarence Gerald Beal, 90, of Somerset, passed away June 24th, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Known to family, church family and close acquaintances simply as “Uncle Jerry”, he leaves behind a rich legacy of good conversation and unique experience. Born November 26th, 1933 to the late James and Rena (Jenkins) Beal, Uncle Jerry joins late siblings William Beal, Carol (Beal) Nightingale, Ronald Beal, Donna (Beal) Atchison, Linda Beal, and infant sister Judy. He leaves behind brother James Beal (Carol) and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and their growing families. Uncle Jerry served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He had a lengthy career with Sears working in sales and management. He proceeded to build a lakeside home in Virginia which he generously opened to friends and family. While residing there, he was a member of The Lake of the Woods Rescue Squad and an active volunteer with The Salvation Army. He also spent time settling refugee families, some of whom remained in contact over the years. Uncle Jerry always delighted in the lives and accomplishments of his family members. He also treasured service to The Lord as a member of The First Christian Church of Somerset and at several churches in Virginia. A celebration of Life will be held at 4 pm Saturday in the First Christian Church with Reverend Brent Williams officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Salvation Army (334 West Main Street, Somerset). Many thanks to Community Life for their love, care, and support of Uncle Jerry and his family during the twilight of his years on Earth.
