Doretta Jones

Doretta Jones 98, of Somerset, passed away peacefully  at her home November 11, 2022. Born August 31, 1924 in Salisbury she is the daughter of the late Blaine and Ellen (Holler) Critchfield.  Also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George R. Jones, son Dexter Lee Jones. Brothers, Paul, Claude, Kenneth Critchfield and sister Beatrice (Critchfield) Beal. She is survived by her loving daughter Trudy K. Jones of Johnstown, granddaughter, Amanda Lee Jones and great granddaughter Audrey Fisk both of New Market, MD and her niece Joanne Beal of Meyersdale and other extended family. Doretta was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and loved art, reading, cooking, watching her Pittsburgh sports teams and keeping up with politics and current events from all over the world. She was very proud of her accomplishments, her proudest being that she made and inspected bullets at Kelly Springfield during WWII.  A hardworking woman, she owned and operated a hair salon in Boynton for 18 years, served on the Salisbury-Elk Lick School Board of Education and worked for State Representative Bill Lloyd for 12 years before she retired. She was an amazing woman who will be dearly missed by her many friends and family. Friends will be received from 11 to 1 pm Wednesday in the ROBERT H. HALBERSON FUNERAL HOME where services will immediately follow with Reverend Arnie McFarland officiating.  Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park.
