Esther Weyand Landis

Ester Weyand-Landis, born September 6, 1955, of Somerset, died July 11, 2021 at UPMC Altoona. Preceded in death by grandparents: Jacob and Ida (Pyle) Latshaw, who raised her. Her father Leland Weyand and mother Jeanevenna (Latshaw) Weyand who divorced when she was a year old. Her husband of 27 years proceeded her in death, Albert C. Landis Jr. on her birthday ion 2009. She is survived by her son Jacob A. Landis and step-son Richard A. Landis and wife Allyson (Layton) of Acosta. Their two children, Lindsey and Austin. Also survived by numerous friends. She was a caregiver all her life for family and friends. Between cases she worked at Somerset YMCA, DeBolt Somerset Bus Co., Jamesway, a substitute teacher’s aide at Somerset Schools and finally Somerset Salvation Army.  One of the first on scene at the crash of Flight 93. Afterwards she was gopher and mechanic helper for her husband and son. She had a following of readers for her letters to the editor in the Daily American. Besides being a caregiver to people she cared for animals she had. They came first because she said she put them in the situation they are in so they are her responsibility. No viewing or service.
