Frances Elizabeth “Betty” (Hay) Weigle 96, of Somerset, died October 19, 2024 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born March 15, 1928 in Somerset, she is the daughter of the late Frances (Foltz) and Park R. Hay. Also preceded in death by her husband Edmund E. Weigle, who died on June 8, 1988 and brothers Fred and Jay and infant sister Shirley. Survived by children, John A. (Diann) Weigle and Linda S. (Tom) Walker both of Somerset. Grandchildren, LeeAnn (Michael) Thomas of Erie, Army Lt. Col. Jason Weigle of Fort Leavenworth, KS, Karen Menser and Lindsey (Michael) Swearman both of Somerset. Great grandchildren, Samantha and Natalie Thomas, Peyton, Colson and Mason Menser, Zachary and Abigail Swearman. Sister of Mary Ann Milone of Tallmadge, OH. She was a 1946 graduate of Somerset Township High School. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator for GTE. She was a member of Samuel’s Lutheran Church, WELCA, the choir and alter guild. A member of RSVP and the hospital auxiliary. She volunteered as a cashier at the hospital snack bar for 15 years. With her husband, they owned and operated a dairy farm for over 40 years in Jefferson Twp. She was affectionately called “Mammy” by the grandchildren and as “Gigi” by the great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4 – 8 Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 AM Friday with Pastor Josh Spangler officiating.
