Fred Herbert Shumaker

Fred Herbert Shumaker 72, of Somerset, died January 14, 2026 at UPMC Somerset. Born May 25, 1953, in Somerset, he is the son of the late Ward Shumaker Sr. and Isabel (Foust) Shumaker of Quecreek. Besides his father he is preceded in death by a son Shawn. Survived by his mother, children, Fred Shumaker Jr and wife Christy and Brandi Leasure and husband John. Grandchildren, Alaina Bair and husband Garrison, Devin Shumaker and wife Megan, Isaiah Shumaker, Wyatt Leasure and Weston Leasure and a great grandson Grayson Shumaker. Brother of Connie Downing and husband David, Melanie Braga and husband Terry, Ward Shumaker Jr and wife Kathy and Jacquelin Raible and husband David. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Fred was a member of the St. Paul’s Church of Christ and worked as a cook at the former Ramada Inn. He enjoyed watching the Pirates and Steelers. Friends will be received from 10 to 12 noon Monday in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where services will immediately follow with Reverend Matt Deal officiating.
