Fredric Earl Schminkey

Fredric Earl Schminkey died May 12, 2022. Born April 9, 1949 in the Brighton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh to Earl Conrad Arless Schminkey. A 1967 graduate of Oliver High School, Fredric completed higher education at Allegheny College and the University of Pittsburgh. Fredric dedicated his life to healing others, mainly the children of Somerset County in his 39 years as a guidance counselor at Somerset School District. Fredric also taught numerous classes at IU8, California University and Duquesne University on parenting, counseling and behavioral health. Fredric was a loving father to his sons Eric Schminkey and fiance Erica Gindlesperger and Marc Schminkey, husband to his wife of 41 years, Lynn Ann Schminkey and grandfather to his grandson Max Andrew Schminkey. He was also a caring uncle to his nieces Laura and Lisa Carroll and his nephew Dakota Henderson. He was a good hearted and passionate person who spoke out against injustice whenever he saw it. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, he will be greatly missed and his impact on those he helped will not be forgotten. Friends will be received from 12-3 & 5-8 Monday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. A service will be held Tuesday at 11 am in the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mike Dunlap officiating. Interment in Husband Cemetery.
