Gerald F. Carr, 83 , passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by son Paul L. Carr, parents Charles and Edith Carr, sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Wilson Kepple, brothers Charles (Betty Lou) Carr, Don (Janie) Carr, brother-in-law Lee (Doris) Rubright. Survived by wife of 61 years Patty, sons Daniel (Lisa) Carr of Somerset and Michael (Karen) Carr of Sipesville. Sister Doris (Lee) Rubright and brother Dean (Sue) Carr of Warren, OH. Four grandchildren Austin (Ashley Carr of Richmond, KY, Samantha Carr, attending EKU in Richmond, KY, Kaitlin Dively, attending UPJ in Johnstown, Alex, attending Somerset High School and one great grandson Owen Daniel Carr of Richmond, KY. Gerald established Carrdale Holsteins in 1960. He bred many excellent cows and received several awards, including “Dairy of Distinction”. He with several other dairymen founded the first ever Junior Holstein Club in Somerset County. Also PFA Advisory Council and The Roof Garden Hayseeders. Gerald was awarded the Farmers Home Administrations “Farmer Family Of the Year” in 1976. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1956 . He was a member of the Mt. Laurel United Church of Christ where he served as Elder and was on the church council. Gerald loved his family, enjoyed visiting with farmers, travelling, mostly to Alabama Concerts with Barry and Ginny, loved milking his cows and being the “Caretaker” of his farm. He loved his Lord, saying “We didn’t do this all by ourselves.” A graveside service will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Sipesville Cemetery with Reverend James Stobaugh officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Laurel United Church of Christ, 1209 Keysertown Rd., Boswell, PA 15531.
