Harold P. Showman, Sr. 92, of Somerset, died December 3, 2022. Known as the “Voice of Somerset County” through 45 years as an announcer and engineer for WVSC AM/FM and also Froggy 98 in Somerset. He was born in Pennsville, PA. and went through grade school there and graduated from Connellsville High School. He was married for 67 years to June Showman. Preceded by father, Preston Showman, mother Clara Showman and sister Hulda Wingert of Hanover. Survived by wife June and children Harold P. Showman Jr. of Somerset and Greg Showman and wife Beatrice of Melbourne, FL. Also the grandfather of Ryan Showman, wife Mollie Peuler and great grandchildren Waylon and Ingrid of Boone, NC, Abigail Showman and husband Jon Shiver of Colorado Springs, Co and Adrienne Showman and husband Troy Leclerc of Seabrook, NH. Also survived by sister Emogene Blair of Cabot, PA. He was a long-time member of the Somerset County Amateur Radio Club. He was first licensed as a “HAM” operator in 1949 obtaining the call sign of W3PVG. He has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1957. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, especially the “Steelers”, gardening and antique cars. Friends will be received from 4-6 and 7-9 Wednesday in the ROBERT H. HALVERSON FUNERAL HOME and from 10 to 11 am Thursday in the First United Methodist Church where services will immediately follow with Reverend Dave McCall officiating. Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, PA.
