James Drake

James L. Drake 73 of Somerset passed away June 12, 2024 at his residence. Born January 12, 1951, in Quecreek, he is the son of the late Sherman and Frances (Weyand) Drake. Also preceded in death by a son Kyle, brothers Willis, Larry and Clyde and sister Delores May. Survived by loving girlfriend and sidekick of 8 years Bonnie Yoder, children: Dawn Hetz (Jeremy) of Garrett and James Drake Jr. (Candice) of Somerset. Grandchildren: Jade, Cole, Lily, Ian, Hannah and Sara. Great grandchildren Jacob and Cayden. Also survived by sisters Laverne Shaffer and Penny Drake. Jim worked as a carpenter most of his life. He loved the Lord and his grandchildren.  He enjoyed golfing at Middlecreek Golf Club, and he also enjoyed fishing.  He attended Mountain Valley Bible Church.  A graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery, Garrett at 2 pm Saturday with Reverend Tim Shivler officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to “Ramps R Us” Po box 23 Sipesville, Pa 15561.
