James R. Suter 87 of Somerset, died February 12, 2025 at his residence. Born February 16, 1937 in Somerset, he is the son of the late Clarence (CF) and Blanche (Landis) Suter. Also preceded in death by sisters Darlene and Mary and brother Harvey. Survived by his wife Carley (Johnson) Suter and these children: Robert Suter and wife Linda and Bruce Suter and wife Joan both of Somerset. Grandchildren: Cole, Lara, Jenn, Megan, Chad, and Christopher. Great grandchildren: Libby, Aila, Gavin, Owen, Kaylee and Karlee. Brother of: Shirley Weigle and Karl “Buzz” Suter both of Somerset. Also loved by Carley's family: Cindy (David) Miller, Jolene and Wayne Fleshman, Connie, Bob and Alexa Tyree and their families. Jim was a member of the Lavansville Lutheran Church and Laurel Highlands Horse Pullers Association. He enjoyed all sports and was a referee for high school sports. He loved hunting, fishing and especially horse pulling, and passed on these interests to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his friends in Mt. Hope, Ohio. Friends will be received from 12 noon to 2 pm Saturday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will immediately follow with Reverend Josh Spangler officiating. Interment in Lavansville Cemetery. The family would like to say a special thank you to Heartland Hospice.
