Janet E. Witt

Janet E. Witt 85, of Somerset, died May 4, 2021 in Johnstown. Born July 21, 1935, in Somerset, she is the daughter of the late Edwin R. and Florence L. (Miller) Witt Sr. Also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Shaffer and brother Edwin R. Witt Jr. Survived by a sister, Jean Hochard of Somerset, sister-in-law Nancy J. Witt of Connellsville, nieces and nephews; Lisa Fosbrink, Lois Witt Caton, Beverly Heinemeyer, James Hochard, John Hochard, Gretchen Klein and Leslie Yoder. Janet was a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1953, member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, was a youth advisor and loved to cantor once a month. She helped with the church picnic and Mountain Craft Days. Janet worked in food service for 25 years. She helped to open the Ramada Inn and worked as a prep cook for 5 years. She also managed the Somerset American Outfitters for 22 years and retired in September of 2000. After retirement  she volunteered at the Somerset Senior Center and the Somerset Hospital Gift Shop. At Janet’s request there will be no viewing. A private graveside service will be held at Casebeer Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Christ Casebeer Lutheran  Church, 10377  Somerset Pike, Somerset, PA 15501.
