Jay O. Hay Sr. ,92, of Somerset, died May 20, 2023 at UPMC Somerset. Born July 30, 1930 in Somerset. He is the son of the late Warren K. and Ida (Ream) Hay. Also preceded in death by sibling: Ella Marie Hay, Frances Patterson, infant brother and sister, Billy and Nellie Hay, and infant granddaughter, Lydia Hay. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Coletta (Farkosh) Hay and their children: Ann Cober (Brad), David Hay (Kathy), Susan Halverson (David), Jay O. Hay Jr. (Bridget), John Hay (Beth). Grandchildren: Jayme Tirres (Michael), Thomas Halverson (Jenny), Bradley Cober Jr. (Andrea), Jessica Baker (Bryan), Heather Miller (David), Timothy Hay (fiancé, Heather), Brent Will (Karen), Shawn Will, Olivia Hay, Jay O. Hay III, Marlee Loftus, Julia Bell (Nolan), Emily Hay. Great grandchildren: Luke, Karley, and Bella Tirres, Vance, Laney, Grant, and Mackenzie Halverson, Arianna and Paityn Cober, Meredith and Myah Baker, Cohen and Gretchen Miller, Harlan Bell, Ella, Callie, Carson, Chase and Mia Will, and Mason Reed. He was extremely proud of his family. Jay was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Eagles and the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66, where he retired as a Business Agent in 1994. He was a graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1948 and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an avid bowler and golfer with 3 hole in ones. He organized the Jay Hay Golf League at Painted Mountain where he wintered in Mesa, AZ. Friends will be received from 2-4PM & 6-8PM Tuesday at the ROBERT H. HALVERSON FUNERAL HOME. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Angelo Patti as celebrant. Committal at Somerset County Memorial Park.
