Jeffrey Lee Hoffman, 76, died peacefully in Fort Myers, Florida on February 24th, 2026 in the presence of his wife and daughter. Jeffrey was born and grew up in Somerset, PA. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Ellsworth Hoffman, mother Phyllis Jean (Stutzman) Hoffman and his brother Richard Hoffman, who died in infancy. He is survived by his brother Roger Lynn Hoffman and his wife Barbara and their children. Jeff dedicated much of his professional life in services to his country. He worked for the National Security Agency for 25 years, contributing quietly and faithfully to the security of the United States. After retiring from the NSA Jeff continued to work in support of the Department of Defense in the private sector. After moving to Florida, Jeff operated his own handyman business for many years and eventually used those skills to help our National Parks Service. From 2014-2021 he continued his support for the military community while he and his wife lived in Kaiserlautern area of Germany. Jeff met his wife, Claudia, in Bad Aibling, Germany while she was serving in the US Air Force and he was working with NSA. They shared 29+ years of marriage. Jeff shared a special bond with his stepdaughter, Elizabeth, from the time she was 9 years old. Jeff was also a devoted grandfather to his beloved granddaughter, Zeppelin, age 6, who knew him as her “Opa”. Jeff often took Zeppy to school and picked her up, the two shared many happy moments together; including their favorite tradition of stopping at Dunkin’ Donuts. Jeff had a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and enjoyed teasing those closest to him. Jeff will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty, his lifelong commitment to serving others and the steady presence of a man who gave generously of himself and loved his family deeply. An initial celebration of life will be held at Next Level Church, Fort Myers on Thursday April 30th 2026. A local Celebration of Life is being planned for August 2026 in Somerset, PA.
