John David Berkey

John David Berkey went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2023 at Somerset Hospital. He was born July 11, 1944 to George R. and Georgia R. (Boyer) Berkey. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Dianne Karen (Speigle) Berkey. Preceded in death by parents and brother Theodore “Ted” Berkey,  in laws  Fred Jay and Kathleen “Kay” Speigle and nephew Ryan Jay Speigle. Survived by siblings Greta Ludlam of NJ, Donna Salley of Hollsopple, Wendall Berkey of Jenner Twp. and Karen Bertolasio of Friedens. Sister-in-law Connie Berkey of Jenner Twp., Brother-in-law Ronald Speigle of Jenners and numerous nieces and nephews that he enjoyed and loved so much. John was a 1962 Graduate of JBJ High School. He served in the US Army in artillery from 1965 – 1967 during the Vietnam Era in Korea. John was a member of the Jennerstown United Methodist Church and served on various committees and volunteered at the Boswell Food Pantry. He retired from Waste Management as a mechanic. He also worked for Fetterolf Coal, New Enterprise and various construction companies in Maryland.  John loved hunting with the guys at the Speigle Camp in Clearfield  County. He enjoyed camping and antiquing with his wife and friends. He was always involved with a project and loved to fix things. John is loved, he will be missed and was a huge part of all of our lives. There will be a private family viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Jennerstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Hildbold officiating. Burial will be in the Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
