Kathleen Yvonne Richards

Kathleen Yvonne Richards 74, of Somerset died May 17, 2022 at her residence. Born November 4, 1947, in Brookville, she is the daughter of the late Kenneth Bryce and Margaret (Beer) Orcutt. Also preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly Carter, grandson Andrew K. Newman II, and siblings James, Arthur and Eugene Orcutt. Survived by husband Larry Richards, children: Samantha Newman and husband Andrew of Lexington Park, MD and Larry Richards II and wife Gemma of Bryantown, MD. Grandchildren: Branden S. Newman, Zoe N. Newman, Samuel L. Richards, Alyssa Rothman, Victoria E. Carter, Mya J. Carter and Olivia D. Carter. Great grandchildren: Kylie Carter and Ella E. Newman. Sister of Carolyn Reynolds and Ferne Orlando. Kathleen was Sunday school Superintendent for the Church of God in Lexington Park, MD where she and her husband ran a bus ministry. She was also involved in the church Christmas bazaar. She was a Star Trek “Trekie”, member of the garden club and won yard of the month several times when they lived in Philly. She enjoyed Christian and classical music.  She managed a motel which had a gift shop with crafts she had made. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Friends will be received from 10 – 11 Saturday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where a service will immediately follow with Reverend Alice Young officiating.
