Larry Ray Glessner 87, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026. Born December 18, 1938, in Somerset, to the late Jacob and Hilda (Darr) Glessner. Larry was a graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1956. On June 6, 1959, Larry married the love of his life, Joanne Maranowski. Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work and strong values. He was the proud father of four children: Kevin, Jayne, Joe and Kurt. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Hilda, his sons, Kevin and Joe and his siblings, Arlene Cassler and Marvin Glessner. He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne, his daughter Jayne (fiance’ Roger); his son Kurt (wife Terri); Bob a former son-in-law and Vicki a daughter-in-law still considered family; and his sister Kay Stanczyk (husband Dan). He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Brooke, Jill, Carlee, Ryan, Kasey, Josh, Kortney and Kolby and twelve great grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud of. A man of strong morals and quiet integrity, Larry lived his life with honesty, humility and respect for others. He had a lifelong love for farming. He farmed for many years but is most remembered for his chicken farm and egg business and his niche for growing pumpkins. If something was growing, Larry was likely tending it and if it wasn’t growing, he probably had a witty comment about why. Living a simple and pure life, he found joy in the small things, lived respectfully, worked hard and asked for little. Larry Ray Glessner will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Services and interment will be private. Arrangements under the direction of the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home.
