Ruth Lambert Obituary

Ruth Elaine (Weigle) Lambert, 84, of Somerset, entered Heaven’s gates on March 18, 2026 surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. A woman of deep Christian faith, Ruth faced her final year with grace and courage as she endured pancreatic and liver cancer, trusting in God’s promises and the hope of eternal life. Ruth was married to her husband, Louis K. Lambert, for 50 years. Louis preceded her in death on May 8, 2009. Ruth’s life was a testimony of devotion. For decades, she hosted Sunday evening dinners that became a cherished tradition for her seven children and their families: Gwendolyn Leer and children Jessica, Justin and Jonathan (Katie); Daniel, married to Linda (Knepper) and children Mark (Alyssa), Brian, Todd and Andrea; David, married to Cindy (Weir) and sons Brandon (Allyn), Joshua (Jennifer) and Tanner (Katie); Lori, married to Mike Chowan and her daughter Katie; Douglas, married to Michelle (Robertson) and daughters Meagan and Emily; Robert, married to Patti Jo (Pletcher) and sons Jason, Nathan and Ryan; and William, married to Cynthia (Walker) and children Rachel and Matthew. Also survived by great-grandchildren Emerie, Emmett, Eleanor, Joseph and Theodore. Ruth was preceded in death by her infant daughter, father Eugene O. Weigle, her mother Leona (Maust), brothers Eugene E. Weigle and Robert Weigle, and son-in-law Roger Leer. She is survived by her sister Janet Cebula and brothers Charles Weigle and Earl Weigle. Ruth attended Somerset Alliance Church and lived out her faith through quiet service, prayer, and genuine care for her family. She was a 1959 graduate of Somerset High School. In accordance with Ruth’s wishes, services for the immediate family will be private, with interment at Somerset Memorial Park. Service performed by Pastor Don Robson and funeral arrangements coordinated by Halverson Funeral Home. After filling her home with family for so many years, Ruth is now at home with Jesus her Savior.
