Sarah S, May

Sarah S. May, 80, of Somerset, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019, at her daughter’s home, after a brief illness. Sarah was born in Johnstown, PA to the late Fred and Barbara Geisel on August 28, 1939. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Kent May and grandson Bradford May. Those left to cherish her memory of a life well lived include children: Kevin May of Boone, NC and Carol Sue May of Pittsburgh. Grandchildren: Eric May (Hsiu-Chin) Taiwan and Sarabeth (Michael) DeWitt of Somerset. Great grandchildren: Riley and Jaxon DeWitt and Cameron May. Brother, Vernon Geisel and sisters, Charlene Walters, Nancy Cuppett and Barbara Kriston, daughter-in-law Betsy May and Bradford’s fiancée Melissa Torres. Sarah was a loving and caring nurse for 42 years and a church organist/choir director for 64 years, the last 50 of which were at First United Methodist Church, Somerset where she played/sang until two weeks before her death. Her gift of music, nursing care, love and faith has touched many lives. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. A service to celebrate her life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Somerset at 11 am Wednesday. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be made in Sarah’s memory to First United Methodist Church, 149 W. Patriot St., Somerset, PA 15501.
