Shirley L. Trent

Shirley L. Trent 89 of Friedens went to see her Lord and Savior on January 9, 2026 at home surrounded by her sons Bill and Michael and her daughter-in-law Linda. Born August 6, 1936 in Somerset she is the daughter of the late Calvin Sr. and Alverna (Burk) Zarefoss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William J. Trent Sr. of 64 years, twin sons Larry and Barry, granddaughter Kimberly Trent and great granddaughter Lynn Lee and son-in-law Robert Martin, sisters Jean Bosley, Alice Bosley, Charlotte Evans and Lois Holt.  She is survived by her children Carol Brant (Dan), Connie Martin, Sally Trent (Dale), William Trent (Linda), Michael Trent (Christine) and Eric Trent (Missy). Her 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Survived by her brother Calvin Zarefoss (late Bessie) of Somerset and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Neil and Dorothy Maust. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her loving dog Candy.  She loved going to yard sales, birthday parties and loved the get together picnics at her home. She loved painting and collecting porcelain dolls and angels. She also loved going on annual vacation trips, multiple times to Potter County camping and her relaxing Sunday drives. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. We would like to give a special thanks to Heartland Hospice staff that came to see Mom and Mom’s nurse Chantelle for her outstanding  love, caring and support she gave to Mom. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 6567 Glades Pike, Somerset, PA 15501 and Heartland Hospice, 512 Georgian Place, Somerset, PA 15501. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will immediately follow with Pastor Kathleen Stump officiating.
