Thomas Fitzgerald

Thomas Fitzgerald, 81, of Somerset.  On August 11, 2023 our beloved daddy, pawpaw and brother traveled from his “little faith house” on the Ridge to join the Lord and his precious wife Carol in their heavenly home above.  Tom, also known as Buzz, was born in Friedens to the late Thomas and Helen (Lewis) Fitzgerald and is survived by “the clan” of six siblings:   Sisters Patrica Lowry and husband Jerry, Nancy Oravec and husband Herk, Bonnie Kennington and husband Kenny, Suzanne Enos and husband Mel; and brothers Jerry Fitzgerald and wife Susan, and James Fitzgerald.  He is survived by children Tonya and Thomas Shepherd, Deborah Keller, Mitzi Spory, and Phillip Newcomer. Tom is the proud papaw of Emily Speelman and husband Dillon, Abby Shepherd, Paige Hartman, Donnie Brady, Ricky Keller, and Tommie Keller and of great-grandchildren Vera Ann, Whitney, Briana, Alyssa, Kayla, Ricky, Colton, Tessa, Mya, Jacob, and Nellie.  Tom is a retired coal miner, a master builder, and a simple man of the woods, who devoted his days to his Bible, his wife, his best fishing and hunting friend Thom, his “very good, good friend Buddy,” and his precious great-grand daughter Vera, who giggled with her “bapaw” every day.  “The Lord knoweth the days of the upright; and their inheritance shall be forever” (Psalms 37:18) Friends will be received from 2-4 Tuesday in the Listie Grace Brethren Church, where services will immediately follow with Reverend Christopher Knight officiating.
