Virginia "Ginger" Adele Bruno

Virginia Adele Bruno 77, of Central City, passed away March 11, 2026 at her residence. “Ginger” as she was known by, was born December 16, 1948 in Cheyenne, WY. She is the daughter of the late Lt. Colonel Norman Percy and Lorraine Vernece (Dinell) Tucker. Also preceded in death by her brother Jerry Clayton Tucker. Survived by her husband Lawrence Bruno and children: John Marshall and wife Emily, Jessica McDonald and husband Brian, grandson Jaysen Bruno and wife Ella and stepdaughter Veronica Cowan and husband Patrick. Grandchildren: Andrew Marshall, Daniel Marshall, Noah McDonald, Liam McDonald, Violet Bruno, Zachary Cowan, Emma Cowan, Nicholas Cowan. Sisters: Katherine Tucker Nutt and husband Thomas, Julia Tucker Kortbawi and sister-in-law Mary Tucker. Nephews: Allen Tucker, Ken Tucker, Nathan Burch, Jeffrey Burch, David Rother and Thomas Nutt. Nieces: Amanda Nutt and Sarah Nutt. From age 12 Ginger grew up in McLean, VA. She received her Bachelor’s degree from ETSU and her Master’s degree from George Mason University. She worked as a High School Instructional Technology Resource Teacher in VA, NH and WV. She loved flowers, animals, gardening, music and dancing, but most of all she loved people deeply and unconditionally, just like her father. She was generous and loved nothing more than being with her friends and family. She found great joy in sharing her home with others and her door was always open. She was a wonderful, loving mother, and a doting, loving Nana to her grandchildren. As both a teacher and a mother, she had such a heart for young people. Her warmth and compassion drew them in and gave them a safe place in her. A celebration of Ginger’s life will be held at Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington, VA on May 2nd at 11:00 am.  Arrangements under the direction of the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home.
