Kenneth L. Stillwagon, 91, of Somerset, passed away 2 days short of turning 92. Born in Fayette County on March 7, 1932 to the late Walter Ralph and Eleanor (Zorn) Stillwagon. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Melva (Uhrin) Stillwagon, and brother Ralph Richard Stillwagon. Survived by loving daughters Laura (Kevin) Miller and Lana (Jody) Edmiston, also nieces and nephews. After graduating from Connellsville High School, he served in the Army, then received a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State Teachers College, a Masters from Pitt, and a Doctorate from Penn State. He taught History and Social Studies at Gateway High School in Monroeville. Ken volunteered in the spiritual programs at SCI-Somerset and The Patriot. Ken and Melva had been caretakers for many family members. He was genuinely interested in people, willing to lend a hand, and generous to those in need. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, faithfully attending meetings and sharing the Bible truth with others up until his death. A viewing will be held Friday March 8th at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held at the Somerset Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1102 S. Franklin Ave. Somerset on Saturday March 16th at 2pm. The family would like to thank all the neighbors and good Samaritans who came to his rescue and especially the Somerset Ambulance Association for all the times they responded to the Medical Alert calls.
